I started coming to Civic Tech Toronto meet-ups just over a month ago and joined the Welcome Home TO team – and in that short amount of time, the team has been remarkably busy!

Over the past few weeks, one of our main goals has been working on getting this very site launched so that we would have a place to send our friends, colleagues, and community partners who wanted to know what we’ve been up to, and we’ll be posting on here about our progress as we continue to build the WelcomeHomeTO community and develop tools and resources for Toronto’s refugees.

In addition to putting this site together, we’ve stayed focused on our user research. Our team has been conducting extensive interviews and building detailed user stories to inform our design work as we move into development stages for some of our tools in the coming months. As we’ve been creating user stories, our design team has also been liaising with stakeholders and translating their research into journey maps and design concepts.

In the coming weeks, we will be continuing to gather user research as well as moving ahead iteratively with design and development. On the operations side, we’ll be thinking about our mission, vision, and long-term strategy, while continuing to work with stakeholders and community partners.

We’ll be posting updates on our blog from different members of the team and we’re excited to share our insights and journey through our new site!
